Kinisfear

Kinisfear is a four piece band from Bracknell, Berkshire, England. The band started many years ago as just James and Joe jamming. It didn't take too much thinking to realise that a band with a guitar and a drummer is a bit small (even for the White Stripes). So along came Keith. So that's a band of 3, a bit better. However...they where still missing a bass player, and did so for a long time. Thats when, Liam stepped in.

The Books

The Books story began in 2000, when Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong met through a friend in New York City. Sharing similar interests but different backgrounds in acoustic music and found sound, Zammuto and de Jong took their sonic experiments to the studio. Eventually, with some urging by Tom Steinle of Tomlab Records, they created what would become their debut record, Thought for Food, in 2002. Within a year, the Books relocated to Hot Springs, NC, and recorded and released The Lemon of Pink.

Artist Type:

Stars

Not to be confused with Japanese rock band, The Stars. Stars is a Canadian indie pop band signed to the Arts & Crafts label. Originally formed in Toronto in 1998 by vocalist Torquil Campbell and keyboardist Chris Seligman, the band relocated to New York City and then subsequently to Montreal. The band also includes singer-guitarist Amy Millan and bassist Evan Cranley. Drummer Pat McGee has toured with the band for years, despite not appearing on their albums until the release of Set Yourself On Fire.

Artist Type:

Kiddo

There are three artists with this name: (1) KiDDO sound like a musical ménage à trois between The Strokes, U2 and The Killers. More fun than a High School Musical Sing-along at a silent disco, these purveyors of riff-laden indie-pop are probably the sound of tomorrow… if the sound of tomorrow turns out to be riff-laden indie-pop. Which they reckon it will. “KiDDO have a fine line in maximum rock and roll, enough hooks to hang tonight’s huge curtains on and anthems that burrow into the brain” – NME

Artist Type:

volcano!

volcano! does the following things in their music: the drummer plays in and out of time. he plays really loud and really quiet. cymbals sounding ringing. he plays with toys and he plays with sounds. and much in this way, the electronics guy samples real noises and then totally f's with them. it sounds crazy, but it's in the context of structured songs and pop melodies. the finest singing glass, he crushes into fine powder. the electronics guy also play bass... and sometimes melodica. the guitar player also explores his instrument, switching between odd guitar sounds and rock 'n' roll riffs.

Artist Type:

Win Win

Win Win is the new project from XXXchange and Devlin (of Devlin and Darko—Spank Rock’s tour DJs). “RELEASERPM” is its first single, it features Lizzi Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dance, and works as a sort of parallel to the direction GGD have been moving in since St. Dymphna was released. XXXchange has tapped into the deep-root weirdness of that record, but have made it leaner and focused over time.

Artist Type:

Ulysses

There are four groups with this name. Ulysses are a band who bring their own caravan of entertainment with them. Their audience feeds from their music and feeds them back appreciation in a symbiotic soul-love-power sunburst of warmth and noise. References? Pop Levi, Patrick Wolf, Bobby Conn, Kings Of Leon, taking from the raw blues style that White Stripes articulate their songs from, but with added zest, pop padding and harmonies. There’s even some early ‘70s Bowie and ‘Electric Warrior’-period T.Rex in the mix.
