Lurk

Lurk has been listening to electronic music since his first party, an Orb album launch party in 1993; he discovered psytrance about a year and a half after that and bought decks in '96, initially because all the best music was on vinyl. When vinyl started to die out, he invested in cdj's and went on from there. Lurk's taste in music covers a large section of psytrance (as you can see from the tracklists below), from progressive morning music to screaming, dark night music. What he plays at a party depends very much on what time it is, and the mood of the crowd.

Quadrophonia

Quadrophonia were a Dutch dance act formed by Olivier Abbeloos (also known as part of T99) and Lucien Foort in the late 1980s, with rap vocals on several of their tracks performed by Marvin D (A.K.A. Ripmaster). They had two top-40 hits in the United Kingdom. "Quadrophonia", which reached #14 in April 1991, followed by "The Wave Of The Future", which charted at #40 in July of the same year, as well as 3 other singles from around this time, "Find the Time (Part 1)", "Schizofrenia - The Worst Day Of My Life" and "The Man With the Masterplan", all three of which weren't particularly successful.

Spectrum

There is more than one artist with this name. 1) Spectrum is a project of Peter Kember, a British musician more usually known as Sonic Boom, and founding member of the band Spacemen 3. Sonic Boom's first solo album, Spectrum, was recorded in 1989 while Spacemen 3 were still together, and featured the other members of the group. However, when Spacemen 3 disbanded in 1991, Kember recruited new musicians for the group Spectrum.

Shift

There are 8 artists with the same name: 1) Shift was a two membered, Singapore based instrumental rock band made up of current members of Scavenger's Daughter, Prey With Me, and 7AM. The duo (neither of whom are Singaporean) released two demos (Songs to Break the Chains, Rejected Stereo), and enjoyed some success with the single "Pot Noodle Part II". They reached their peak playing to around 200 people, at the Tanglin Plugged festival. However, the band was forced to break up, as guitarist Deva Rao shifted his base of operation to Shanghai, China, leaving drummer Alex Curran to focus on 7AM.

Short Circuit is Andrew Verner from LA. A part of Binary, the family of dance producers making waves in LA and beyond, Short Circuit is making big things happen. He recently released the single "Let Go" that has a stellar package of remixes to go along with; all of which have received significant buzz on blogs and Hype Machine. SC has also been perfecting his live and DJ performances over the last year, with several shows @ SXSX 2010 and a short west coast tour in the spring.

Pacha Massive (from Pachamama, meaning 'mother earth'), the debut MTV Tr3s' “Descubre and Download” artist, has been making a buzz since playing their first gig at Madison Square Garden in 2004 (opening for Aterciopelados). The Bronx-based act’s rhythmic blend of funky Latin jams with Colombian cumbia, Afro-Cuban son, Jamaican reggae-dancehall, dub and drum-and-bass has made them a New York club favorite.

Gappeq

Gappeq is a psychedelic trance project from Czech Republic. By the age of 17 he started to explore the realm of making electronic music, whether it be DnB, Breakbreat, Trance, Ambient, or Dub. By 1999 he had joined the band SM Lomoz as a keyboardist, and finally went onto starting to write both goa and psytrance by 2001. He released many tracks on Sundance Records, Ketuh Records, Oxygen Records and Vertigo and done a lot of sounds and music for TV advertisements, independent movies, and websites. In 2006 he completed Audio Engineering at SAE Sydney.
