In the summer of 2003, virtuoso rock guitarist Jack Evans decided to put down his Playstation joypad and pick up his guitars for an all out assault on London's live music scene! He enlisted the help of his long time mates John Lucas (bass) and Martin Clough (drums) and went in search for singer/songwriter to help turn the bluesy, funked, sexed, classic rock sounds they were making into songs. After a long and arduous search where many pointless pints were bought, eardrums bruised and rampant egos deflated, the boys found the man for the job.

Alfa 9 release their second album Gone To Ground in 2013 on Blow Up Records. The self produced twelve song set was recorded in their home town of Newcastle-under-Lyme at their own Dungeon Studios. Mixed in London by Myles Clarke (The Who / Pete Townsend). After several years had gone by between the release of their debut Then We Begin the band have remerged with Gone To Ground. John Baldwin (born January 3, 1946 in Sidcup, London), better known by his stage name John Paul Jones, is an English musician and was the bassist, keyboardist, and mandolin player for Led Zeppelin from its inception until the band's breakup following the death of John Bonham in 1980. A versatile musician, he also plays guitar, mandolin, koto, lap steel guitars, autoharp, ukulele, cello, and the three over-dubbed recorders heard on "Stairway to Heaven".
