New Zealand’s The Ruby Suns formed in Auckland in 2004, under the somewhat longer and inarguably more rhyming name Ryan McPhun and The Ruby Suns. The band is now shortly, sweetly and simply called The Ruby Suns, and principal Ruby Sun Ryan McPhun is currently and ably abetted by Amee Robinson. Although New Zealand is somewhat isolated in the southern most part of the Pacific Ocean, Ryan has remained true to his buccaneer instinct.
Kat McKenzie (born April 26, 1984, in Wellington, New Zealand) is an indie singer/songwriter/pianist, who is best known for her debut release on EP, "Hiding", in 2006. She also released several b-side tracks on her website in 2009, under the project "Operation Melody", where she attempted to write a song a week, in styles requested by her fans. She is also an accomplished stage and television actress, appearing in opera choruses as a child, the New Zealand national tour of "The Secret Garden", as well as featured 'guest cast' roles in television series such as "The Tribe"...

His debut on the artistic scene took place in the end of '70s. when he was part of the group called Santarosa (one of the most famous track by this group was "Souvenir"). From the early '80s he decided to pursue his solo career.
The Ruby Suns are an indie/pop group from New Zealand. They formed in 2004 when Californian Ryan McPhun moved to Auckland and started playing in several bands such as The Brunettes and The Tokey Tones. Originally known as Ryan McPhun & the Ruby Suns, they reverted to the latter some time in 2006. The Ruby Suns are signed to Lil' Chief Records in New Zealand and Memphis Industries in Britain. In early 2007 the band embarked on their first European tour in support of their self-titled debut album.
