Swimmer One

Two awkward perfectionists from Scotland, Andrew Eaton and Hamish Brown are Swimmer One. They make intelligent leftfield pop, but not the kind that fits neatly into any box. The Regional Variations is Swimmer One's debut album. Its 11 songs cover the following subjects: dreaming about being watched while you drown; a man driven insane by a mysterious low frequency noise; an irrational fear of reality TV; what losing a loved one has in common with watching musicians you love sell out; falling in...

Anna Massie

Anna Massie was the winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2003 Award. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she excels in playing the fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo. Though perhaps most impressive is her guitar playing - equally at home either accompanying in her unique rhythmic style or flatpicking tunes, Massie’s dexterity shines through. She has performed twice at the Celtic Colours International Festival in Cape Breton.

King Creosote & Jon Hopkins

March 28th sees the release of Diamond Mine, a collaborative album from King Creosote and Jon Hopkins. Featuring lyrics and vocals from King Creosote sung over musical backdrops arranged and recorded by Jon Hopkins, Diamond Mine is a genuine labour of love, recorded over a number of years without the pressure of deadlines, whenever Jon and KC could get together. The album, featuring instrumental moments as affecting as the lyrical, consists of newly interpreted obscure delights picked out from 20 years of King Creosote’s treasure chest of a back catalogue.

Sucioperro

Sucioperro are a three piece from Ayr in Scotland, who play spiralling off kilter alt-rock. They are indeed alt-rock but they go beyond this as a band. They've cited their influences as Rage Against the Machine, Crowded House, Pearl Jam, Tool, Jimmy Eat World, Talking Heads, The Police, Prince and "anything vibed/energetic/real". This mix of musical influences all comes out in their live show, which is something that you simply cannot miss.
