John Hiatt

John Hiatt's sales have never quite matched his reputation. Hiatt's songs were covered successfully by everyone from Bonnie Raitt, Ronnie Milsap, and Dr. Feelgood to Iggy Pop, Three Dog Night, and the Neville Brothers, yet it took him 13 years to reach the charts himself. Of course, it nearly took him that long to find his own style. Hiatt began his solo career in 1974, and over the next decade he ran through a number of different styles from rock & roll to new wave pop before he finally settled on a rootsy fusion of rock & roll, country, blues, and folk with his 1987 album Bring the Family.

Amy Rigby

A New Yorker who relocated to Nashville several years ago, Rigby makes terrific, all-too-overlooked roots-pop records that nail the likes of class, men and "middlescence" with wit, grace and self-deprecating charm. At her quotidian best, though, she sings the song of herself, conveying the blues, as lived by urbanites and suburbanites, like a citified niece of Loretta Lynn. Country radio, are you listening? --Bill Friskics-Warren

Sam Lewis

Sam Lewis was born in Camden Town London. His music has been described as a modern Blues sound, with a heady mix of country, folk and acoustic soul played with a passion and vitality akin to a young Elvis. Sam’s Lucky break was running into KT in a park in Willesden, with KT offering him the guitar-playing gig in the new touring band she was assembling at that time. That seemed to set his life on a different course.
