There are several artists using the name "Dugong". 1. Dugong were a four-piece "indie-rock/emo/punk" band hailing from Wakefield in West Yorkshire. On 14th August 2005, after a final show at the Out Of Spite Festival in Leeds, they went on an indefinite hiatus. Members of Dugong are still active, in bands such as Nathaniel Green, Messina and The Sword, and as solo artists such as The Warlord and Brown Hound James.
Anchored by Avarice are a five-piece Metalcore outfit from Wakefield, UK.
They produce a unique sound combining melodies over fast-paced riffs with heavy breakdowns threaded throughout. Runaround Kids are a Wakefield band consisting of George Garthwaite (vox, guitar), Jack Winn (bass) and Blake Hemingway (drums). They formed in late 2007 and are due to release their next EP on Louder Than Bombs Records. They played their first gig in April 2008 in a self-organised charity event, along with their friends in Sponge Wings and The Compression among others. They recorded and released their first EP, Persistence, in June with the help of Rob Slater of The Spills. This was released for free download from MySpace and last.
Skint & Demoralised are an English band formed on MySpace in May 2007. Originally just Wakefield performance poet Matt Abbott, the act became a duo when Abbott responded to an offer of collaboration from a mysterious Sheffield-based songwriter/producer known as MiNI dOG. A songwriting partnership quickly developed over the Summer of 2007 and in August of that year they assembled a live band of numerous Sheffield musicians. Uploading their demos onto a free download site, they eventually received over 8,600 free downloads before signing a deal with Mercury Records in March 2008.
