The Consultants

Formed in Brooklyn in 2003, The Consultants were Marisha Chinsky, Brett Whitmoyer, and Mike Hollitscher. Their music is beautifully layered and cinematic, while the lyrics are a neurotic cocktail of hope and discontent. Chinsky sings and writes most of the words, and they are often windows into a compelling world where self-confidence and self-doubt are perpetually vying for the upper hand. Aranis

Aranis is a Flemish quintet, playing music across the borders of classical, folk and (post)rock. They have released four full albums: Aranis (2005), Aranis (2007), Songs From Mirage (2009) and RoqueForte (2010). Depending on the project Aranis is working on, they call upon guest musicians to complete the sound. Aranis:

Nuisance

Nuisance was a post-punk band from the late 80s and early 90s. They released two albums on Lookout Records in 91 and 93. They were one of the earlier bands to take punk roots and soak them in folksy country music - which is a big trend these days. “It’s like being on top of the mountain, and you can reach out and touch the sun. Dusty trucks buzz on the county road down from you. And it’s like the most poignant moment that could ever be.

Oblako Lodka

Formed by Irit Rozenfeld in late 2007, Oblako Lodka play a delicate blend of rudimentary pop; with atmospheric cycles reminiscent of Colleen, and airy seventh chords; a kind of ambient tropicalia.

Oblako Lodka are Irit Rozenfeld, Alex Nosek (ii, hammocks and honey) and Alexis Hall (The Motifs, Milk Teddy). Former members include Jodi Hoffman (véu) on drums, guitar, melodian and vocals, Shaun D'arcy (rival flight) on guitar, and Zoe Jackson (Light Music Club), who played keys for the band's first five shows.

Hailing from New York, classical trained violist Nadia Sirota is also a well known musician in indie music. She played on records by Doveman, My Brightest Diamond, Ratatat and Grizzly Bear.
