There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Helix is a heavy metal band that formed in 1974 for a Battle of the Bands contest in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and is best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup consisted of singer Brian Vollmer, guitarists Brent Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Keith Zurbrigg and drummer Brian Doerner. In 1992, Hackman died when the group's van rolled down a 40-foot enbankment after a concert in Vancouver.

Nicolas Jaar

Though he would prefer you to simply listen to his music instead of reading this, Nicolas Jaar would admit he was born in NY; but quickly relocated to Santiago de Chile in the 90s only to come back to his birth place as a teenager. Haunted by Mulatu Astatke, Erik Satie, Ezekiel Honig and Villalobos’ “Thé au Harem d’Archimède”; Nico started to make organic electronic music in 2004 at the age of 14.

John Digweed

John Digweed is a British DJ and record producer. He began DJing at around age 13. He realised the only way to breakthrough was to start his own nightclub and book the big names like Carl Cox for him to play with. His break finally came when Sasha (real name Alexander Coe) played at Digweed's Bedrock nightclub in Hastings. Sasha, impressed by what he heard, offered Digweed the residency with him at the now seminal club Renaissance, at that time in Mansfield.
