War Against Sleep

"What is the War Against Sleep?"The Casio-psychosis of a moral dyslexic squeezing out songs like glue to hold himself together. The act of picking cigarette ends off the floor because you like the taste of cheap lipstick. Love crafted from a night in with Teletext and Benylin. A suit, stained with the amphetamine sweat-beads of your worst porno nightmare. A stolen suit, a borrowed suit, a dead man's suit, a dead-skin mask. Dance with me, you syphilitic tramp. I love you.

The Transpersonals

Bristol-based 3-piece comprising Tim Hurford, Luke Barter and Matt Bane, playing their own brand of cosmic psychedelia. '60's garage...somewhere between The Sonics and The Beach Boys' - Gimme Shelter. 'Garage is all about those individual two-and-a-half minute wonders and TP have them aplenty' - Venue Magazine. EP released on itunes in october. ‘Hello Hello’ is a psych-tinged, tongue-in-cheek Surf-Pop ditty and a mighty catchy little number, whilst the truly mentally ill ‘Silver Star’ features the definitely not mentally ill Katey Brooks as guest-vocalist.

Arctic Circle

Beginning in Edinburgh in 1999, Arctic Circle, now based in Bristol, were formed by Matthew Cheney, a singer/songwriter steeped in psychedelic folk and early 90s electronic sounds. With a fluctuating line-up, a sideline in social politics and establishing The Forest Cafe in Edinburgh, Cheney turned down label offers and set about managing the band himself, bringing in visual and collaborative art components. The songs remained acute observations about urban planning, social dynamics, instrumentals about natural Arctic phenomena and communication in relationships.

Formed in 2008, they have played a handful of impressive live shows around the country, already earning support slots with Attack! Attack!, Lights Action and Twin Atlantic. 2009 is set to be an intensive year for the band. With a brand new 6-track EP We Write Our Own Anthems to promote and more writing and recording on the agenda the band will be working themselves hard - and will not stop until long after the dust settles.
