Heinz Holliger (born May 21, 1939) is a Swiss oboist and composer. He was born in Langenthal, Switzerland and began his musical education at the conservatories of Bern and Basel. He also studied composition with Pierre Boulez. He took first prize in the International Competition in Geneva in 1959. He has become one of the world's most celebrated oboists, and numerous works have been written for him. He began teaching at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany in 1966.
Georg Philipp Telemann (14th March 1681–25th June 1767) was a German Baroque composer, born in Magdeburg. Self-taught in music, he studied law at the University of Leipzig. The most prolific composer of his era, he was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach and a life-long friend of Georg Friedrich Händel. While in the present day Bach is generally thought of as the greater composer, Telemann was more widely renowned for his musical abilities during his lifetime.
There are two Peter Coopers on this page: 1) Peter Cooper was five-years-old when he caught his first Kristofferson show in Charlotte, NC, not too far from Cooper's hometown of Spartanburg, SC. Something about the experience must have stuck, and from there it was on to Bobby Bare, Bob Dylan, Mickey Newbury, Emmylou Harris, Guy Clark, Eric Taylor and others who manage emotional literacy without ever seeming unduly literary. That's a tough trick to learn and Cooper's debut album, "Mission Door", is proof that he studied well.

He has made more than 20 solo and concerto recordings and was soloist with many of Europe's finest early music groups. Goodwin's experience as an oboist helps bring lyricism, phrasing, and architecture to his conducting.
