The Herbaliser

The Herbaliser is a hip-hop band formed by Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry in London, UK in 1994. Currently one of the most famous artists from the Ninja Tune independent record label, they have released 7 LP's, including a DJ mix for Ninja Tune's Solid Steel series. Their latest release is "Same As It Never Was" using more live instrumentation and featuring soulful vocals on four tracks. Jon Kennedy’s music came to light when he was twenty four and Mr Scruff played his track ‘Tell Me How You Feel’ on the Unfold radio show in Brighton, Tru Thoughts snapped him up straight away. He released three 12” and in 2000 his debut album ‘We’re Just Waiting For You Now’ came out. Two years later he was snapped up by Grand Central. This time Aim, who was a fan of Jon’s ‘Chocolate And Cheese’ track approached him to remix ‘The Girl Who Fell Through The Ice’.

Tracey Thorn

Tracey Thorn (born September 26, 1962, in Brookmans Park, Hertfordshire) is an English pop singer and songwriter. She is best known as being one half of the duo Everything But the Girl. She grew up in Hatfield, Hertfordshire and studied English at the University of Hull, where she graduated in 1984 with First Class Honours. She lives with her EBTG partner Ben Watt in North London. The couple have twin daughters born in 1998, and a son born in 2001.

Larry

At the age of 17, Larry started her career as a vocalist with a wild bunch of musicians, mixing hip-hop, funk, ska, rock’a’billy and grunge. Later on, she discovered her unbridled passion for Jazz music at the Jazzstudio in Antwerp, where she finetuned her vocal skills under the tutelage of renowned Jazzmen such as Chris Joris, Ernst Vranckx and David Crane. She was influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, amongst others, which she integrated in her natural bluesy interpretations.

Black Uhuru

Black Uhuru is a Jamaican band probably best known for their hits "Shine Eye Gal", "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," "Sinsemilla," "Solidarity," and "What Is Life?". They were the first group to win a Grammy in the reggae category when it was introduced in 1985. They originally formed as 'Black Sounds Uhuru' (the Kiswahili word for freedom). The first line-up of the group was Garth Dennis, Don Carlos, and Derrick "Duckie" Simpson.
