Bright, young commanders of a brand of unique Englishness, Pete and The Pirates' blend of smooth edged punk and pop produces music which is sweet, raw, joyous, melancholic, raucous and tender. The Pirates' idiosyncratic and endearing songwriting puts them somewhere between the Flying Nun band Tall Dwarfs and the wistful reflection of On The Beach-era Neil Young. Pete and The Pirates is the side-project of frontman Thomas sanders, who is also in Tap Tap.
“Beginning like a rock concert on the Klangers planet, before surging into an amped up, wiry rebirth of the same demonic soul that drove Young Knives to wear Victorian casual wear and (probably) smoke pipes in the comfort of their red velvet coated den, But with a more muscular physique - keep the name on your lips, I have a feeling you’ll be using it more frequently in the near future!” Subba-Culture (single of the week)

Gabi Woo - drums, percussion, backing vocals, harmonium, glockenspiel
Quinta - viola, musical saw, percussion, piano, backing vocals

This London based Quintet are a sonic explosion of discarded and re-absorbed record collections. A band determined to force its audience to leave obvious at the door and dance to the unrelenting unexpected.
