Rook and The Ravens

"Hailing from the hills on the east side of town, the band are loosely part of the recent wave of tuneful Americana-flavoured indie that's been lapping around the fringes of Manchester for a while now and with their debut album almost ready to go, things are indeed looking bright. They sound like a ride in an open-top car on a sunny day, which is not a concept generally associated with Glossop. There's no hidden agenda, no tricks, it's all about the tunes.

Pocket Promise

Pocket Promise are an exciting multi-instrumental four piece based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Pocket Promise use guitars, pianos, keyboards and beat machines to capture a natural sound with twisting melodies and changes of pace and dynamic. Their style ranges from string accompanied haunting arrangements with layered vocals through to riff driven songs with infectious, overpowering choruses. Lyrics bring to mind images of heartache and fragility with carefree consequence and melancholic metaphor in equal measure.

Olympus Mons

Olympus Mons play highly emotionally charged, urgent, jittery indie P’Rock.
The London trio unload the tension of the daily hustle and bustle of the capital in songs full of nervous twitches, intricate melodies and soothing harmonies. Or as producer Jim Mcbuck puts it: “You can’t fake hectic”. Their music and lyrics reflect a romantic view on a fragile and urban society that is defined by the madness of daily life, heartbreaks and personal stories, not afraid of making social comments either.
