Artist Type:

Irma Vep

There are mutliple artists to this name: 1) Irma Vep is a 1996 film by Olivier Assayas starring Maggie Cheung and Jean-Pierre Léaud. 2) Irma Vep is a dog's back leg. Welsh born, Manchester based musician/dancer Edwin Stevens records and performs his solo guff under the pseudonym Irma Vep along with sometime collaborator Dylan 'DBO' Hughes who both play in the popular nu-reggae group Klaus Kinski

Artist Type:

Tortoise

Tortoise's almost entirely instrumental music defies easy categorization, and the group gained significant attention from their early career. The members have roots in Chicago's fertile music scene, playing in various indie rock and punk groups. Tortoise was among the first American indie rock bands to incorporate styles closer to krautrock, dub, minimalism, electronica and various jazz styles, rather than the standard rock and roll and punk that had dominated indie rock for years.

Artist Type:

Jacobs stories

Started in the Summer of 2003 as a collection of four track songs made for friends, Jacob's Stories is music made by a bearded singer songwriter named Stuart Lee. To date he has released three split singles and a three song E.P. Often compared to Hood, Sigur Ros, Talk Talk, and Radiohead, Jacob's Stories is best described as semi-electronic indie rock. Live, Stuart sometimes appears with a band, other times as just a two piece, and sometimes just on his own.

Artist Type:

Rumour Cubes

Rumour Cubes are a group of 20-something Londoners with a love for all things musical. Taking influences from Explosions In The Sky, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Mogwai, among others, the group layer intricate melodies over technical drum beats and delayed guitars. Working with film makers, poets and DJs and using a joystick to control granulated found sounds, Rumour cubes focus as much on the experience as the music itself. An evening in their company will certainly be different.
