The Kleptones

The Kleptones are fronted by Eric Kleptone, a DJ from the United Kingdom. They produce internet-only bastard pop albums. Typically, they mix rock/R&B instrumentals with hip-hop, rock and pop vocals, alongside cut-up spoken-word samples from a wide range of film, radio and television sources. Their first release was the eclectic EP "Never Trust Originality" in 2002. This was followed in 2004 with "Yoshimi Battles The Hip-Hop Robots", which blended the Flaming Lips music with rap vocals from hip-hop stars past and present.

Maladroit

Maladroit is a breakcore artist originally from Sydney who now resides in Melbourne. His hardcore influenced breakcore is known for exceeding speeds of 250bpm, a breakcore record. His work samples extensively from pop songs, ska and other electroacoustic genres. However unlike other artists who employ the popmash, he combines songs at breakneck speeds and with little concern for royalties owed to the artists he samples from.

Helix

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Helix is a heavy metal band that formed in 1974 for a Battle of the Bands contest in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and is best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup consisted of singer Brian Vollmer, guitarists Brent Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Keith Zurbrigg and drummer Brian Doerner. In 1992, Hackman died when the group's van rolled down a 40-foot enbankment after a concert in Vancouver.

dj BC

djBC is a DJ from Boston who's had some recent success in creating mash-ups. His best known works involve mixing the Beatles with the Beastie Boys into what he calls "The Beastles". His work, which was once available as free downloads off his website, www.djbc.net , was removed after a threatening letter from some legal-types. Also notable was his Glassbreaks album (Philip Glass vs. a variety of hip-hop artists), with an even shorter lifetime before the lawyers called (though dj BC mentioned at the time that they were "nice" about it).
