The Jolly Boys

A mento quartet from Port Antonio, Jamaica, formed 1955. They perform with bongos, banjo, rhumba box & kalimba / finger-piano. In the 50s, they were popular at The Trident Hotel & parties for 'the rich'n'famous', e.g. at Errol Flynn's residence. During the late 80s, they received renewed interest, when Jules Shear heard them playing at the Trident - he returned later & produced Pop 'N' Mento & other albums. Aba Shanti I comenzó su carrera durante los años 80 como Dj dentro de los sound Jah Tubby’s, donde le conocían con el nombre de Jasmine Joe. Cuando se convirtió al Rastafarismo adoptó su nuevo nombre, Aba Shanti I y creó su propio sound system. Después de 10 años Aba defiende los valores humanos y universales de Jah, combatiendo toda segregación. Su participación en el carnaval jamaicano de Notting Hill y las sesiones mensuales en el University of Dub de Londres son ya legendarias.

Junior Marvin

Junior Marvin (aka Junior Kerr aka Junior Hanson aka Julian Marvin) is a Jamaican born guitarist. Junior met Bob Marley on February 14, 1977 (Valentine's Day) and thereafter joined Bob Marley and The Wailers Band. After Bob Marley passed Junior carried on the music of The Wailers Band releasing albums ID, Majestic Warriors, Jah Message, and My Friends. Junior is commonly confused with Junior Murvin who also is a reggae artist.

Rico Rodriguez

Emmanuel Rodriguez (Rico, Reco, El Reco) (b. 1934) is a Jamaican trombonist. Born on 17th October 1934 in Kingston, Jamaica, by the age of ten he had learnt to play the trombone from strict nuns. In the 1950s, Rodriguez became a Rasta, and became closely musically related to Rasta drummer Count Ossie. He recorded with many producers, including Prince Buster and Lloyd 'Matador' Daley. In 1961, Rodriguez moved to Eng;and, where he continued to play in bands.
