Madeline

In 2000 Madeline began performing her songs in Athens, Georgia at the age of 15. Over the next couple of years, Madeline worked on a full length album and fronted the locally successful psychedelic pop band, The Sugar Shakers. In 2002 Madeline self-released her album Kissing & Dancing. In 2003 the record was re-released by Plan-It-X records. That year, Madeline went on her first big tour, accompanied by Zumm Zumm.

Athens, GA's breakout sexy groove machine Imagine you take a giant stuffed panda bear and you animate it using sparkling ultraviolet ray pulses. You also take Big Bird. You put them in a room to fight to the death with marshmallow swords. But then you realize that there is no such thing as death and so really they're just hitting each other, and every time they hit each other rainbows bounce off the walls and little morsels of marshmallow blast off.

The Whigs

The Whigs' 3rd album, In The Dark, was released on March 16th 2010. The Whigs are a trio based out of Athens, GA. In 2005, The Whigs released the independently recorded Give 'em All a Big Fat Lip. The band signed to indie label ATO Records, home to Radiohead, My Morning Jacket and Ben Kweller, in 2006. The band's second album, Mission Control, was released on January 22, 2008. It was produced by Rob Schnapf (Beck, Elliott Smith, Guided By Voices) at Sunset Sound and Sound Factory in Los Angeles, CA.

Folklore

1)
For a couple of years now, Folklore has been kicking around Athens (and some other places, with a few brief tours, mostly with their friends Summer Hymns), steadily building positive word-of-mouth. It might surprise you to learn that in such a short time they’ve already released two albums in limited pressings and various incarnations. Essentially the first two Folklore albums are flip sides of the whole, telling the same story, although stylistically they’re drastically different.
