Artisan

There are at least three bands called Artisan. One was an acappella vocal trio, comprising Brian Bedford, Jacey Bedford and Hilary Spencer. They disbanded in 2005. The other performs rich vocal harmony, with intricately-plucked guitars, double bass and spliced drums. Formed in a small mid-Devon village, now based in London, (the second) Artisan have been described as a cross between Simon & Garfunkel, Radiohead and The Coral. They've had recent airplay on both Radio 1 and XFM, and a new made-in-a-cupboard EP is rumoured for eminent release.

It Hugs Back

Matthew, Paul, Dimitri & Jack began making their soft-centered dream pop back in early 2006. Switching between joyous pop-punk delight and delicate melancholia in a heartbeat, It Hugs Back melt layers of fuzzy vocals and guitars into their reassuring blend of endearing shoegaze and heart-on-sleeves vulnerability.

Artist Type:

Loney, Dear

Loney, Dear is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist and home-recording phenomenon Emil Svanängen from Jönköping, Sweden. In either his tiny Stockholm studio apartment or the basement of his parents' house, and with a dedication bordering upon manic, Emil discreetly builds Loney, dear songs using a modest home studio set-up. In this way he has recorded and then released himself on CD-R four albums in the last two or three years.

John Vanderslice

John Vanderslice (born May 22, 1967 in Gainesville, Florida) is an American musician, formerly of MK Ultra but now performing with his own band. After mk Ultra broke up in 1999, Vanderslice wasted little time building a solo reputation. In 2000, he gained national media attention over his single Bill Gates Must Die after concocting an elaborate hoax in which Microsoft supposedly threatened legal action over supposed trademark violations (the disc had a similar etching to a Windows installation disc).

Unbunny is the name under which Jarid del Deo has recorded music since he was a student at the University of New Hampshire. Though del Deo is the primary (and usually sole) songwriter, Unbunny has always operated under the band model, featuring a rotating cast of backing players and collaborators, touring, albeit rarely, with whatever personnel are available. Chris Walla of Death Cab for Cutie recorded two songs on the Unbunny album "Black Strawberries" and also plays piano on one song ("Glacier").
