Songs Of Green Pheasant is the work of Duncan Sumpner, a 30-year-old artist / teacher from Oughtibridge in Sheffield. His self-titled debut album was released on FatCat in August 2005, and drew widespread praise, gaining admiration from Devendra Banhart, múm, and Vetiver, and making many people’s lists as an outsider ‘album of the year’. What emerged on that record was something fragile, yet coherent and utterly charming. With a warm cloudy depth, sweet melodies and some gorgeous vocal harmonising, it was a set of simply beautiful, beautifully sung and played songs.
Elbow Jane are a premiere 5 piece acoustic band from the Wirral, comprising guitars, bazouki, mandolin, piano, bass, percussion and expressive vocals. Cory Branan is a singer/songwriter, born in Southaven, Mississippi. He garnered comparisons to Ryan Adams, Pete Yorn, and Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst with the release of his 2002 debut album The Hell You Say. By his teens, Branan was playing hard rock and heavy metal, eventually fronting a Black Sabbath cover band. In his early 20s he began to explore the music of John Prine, a move which urged him to pick up a guitar and start writing songs.
Beans on Toast is one man with a guitar, writing songs that he claims 'have the same chords' and 'sound like Billy Bragg'. Beans on Toast (known to his friends as Jay) blends a dark wit with serious social and political satire based on a diverse range of subjects including cocaine, Tesco, London, gun crime, myspace, global warming and the Lake District. He will be going on tour with Frank Turner early in the new year: go and see him.

Formed in 2007 after a chance meeting in the back of a broke down traveller's truck - both hailing from the Bristol/Somerset area, Tamsyn and James started writing and performing songs together shortly afterwards. Lyrics and melodies are provided by Tamsyn, around which James builds the piano pieces and the rest of the band play. Described as 'old swing in a new style', Tamsyn's songwriting resides somewhere between fun-time party music and more conscientious, emotional lyricism.
