The Legacy of Scott 'Wino' Weinrich in the world of heavy music is indisputable. In 2010, he turned to his acoustic guitar as a means to drive out some personal demons, resulting in Adrift and a tour to support it. Unusually, this would just be Wino, an acoustic guitar and a driver in a small passenger car, so the task of finding someone suitably laid back and able to live in such intimate and cramped conditions for six weeks fell to Andreas of Exile On Mainstream/Southern Germany. Andreas chose Conny Ochs, who he'd known for some time from his Baltic Coast beach parties.
Secret Cities hail from Fargo, North Dakota and formed in 2002. MJ Parker and Charlie Gokey were barely 15 when they met at band camp, but a shared love of psychedelia and scads of secret, unheard songs between them drew the pair together. They passed cassettes back and forth across the tundra of their home state, each manipulating and adding to the other's work via 4-track. Slowly they built up a catalog of sound collage and darkly romantic pop.

They're not even allowed in the amazing venues Austin has to offer without supervision, but that didn't keep the Dutch band 'Death Letters' from taking off to Texas in September 2010 when only 18 and 19 years old. They were there for a one sole purpose only: recording their second album with one of their favorite producers. This particular producer has worked with bands from the likes of ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Jet, The Datsuns and The Dandy Warhols and rolls by the name of Chris 'Frenchie' Smith.
Influenced by the Congotronics groups and their instruments made out of recuperated materials, the members of Hoquets use a similar attitude: this Belgian/American/French trio mostly play with instruments that they invent and construct out of wooden boards, broken strings, tin cans, etc. Their music is overflowing with energy and like no other, inspired by indie pop, hip hop, punk, funk and the weirdness of their homeland.
