The Felt Tips began in summer 2006 when two kites became entangled with each other on Largs Beach just outside Glasgow. Andrew was struck by how much Miguel looked like Marr. Miguel thought Andrew perhaps might be gay but wasn’t sure. The duo began writing songs along usual indie-pop themes – oral sex, the triumph of losing your virginity, sexual inadequacy and unstable girlfriends. Andrew’s childhood friend and psychiatrist couldn’t believe his ears and wanted in. The quartet was completed with the arrival of drummer Kevin H Carroll.
