Chicago born and bred Melvin Oliphant aka Traxx is known for constructing the "jakbeat" sound -- "a turbo-charged take on old school acid and Chicago house for the '00s put together with the unmistakeable tones of classic analogue gear such as the TR-909, TR-808, and, of course, the TB-303". Eva B has released nice jazzy and dubby stuff on the nujazz label Sonar Kollektiv outta Germany. Inspirations come from sounds like Rythm N Sound, Cinematic Orchestra, Rockers Hi-Fi, Earl Zinger Berliner Eva Be is a producer who commissioned beat poets to spit rhymes over her smoky, minimal beats, and the end result is something like Digable Planets meets Herbaliser meets Soulstice.
Eva is much more concerned with exploring the interface between dub and electronica - using the opportunity to play with boundaries between genres...

Lemonade

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Only two weeks into their existence, San Francisco-based psych-electronic trio Lemonade coalesced remarkably fast and performed their first show in 2005. The group- comprised of childhood friends Callan Clendenin (vocals), Alex Pasternak (percussion) and Ben Steidel on bass-did not have grand expectations for the project outside of exploring their shared vision of a place that they have never been: a fantasy landscape that is at once gritty and pristine, tropical and foreboding.
