Diverted
Diverted have rapidly established themselves as one of the most innovative electronic acts around through their live monthly residency at Ali B’s long running Air night where they have been the house band since early 2007, playing alongside the likes of Minuit, Bastila and The London Breakbeat Orchestra. With each show, their sound has constantly evolved through the regular addition of new musicians and vocalists. Songs are often written and then road tested in front of the loyal Air crowd on the same day, before ultimately being recorded and put on the shortlist for their forthcoming album.
Mr No Hands
Every now and again an artist like Mr No Hands comes along breathing fresh air into proceedings with an unconventional approach to production and performance. Dave Clough aka Mr No Hands, a name inspired by his love for BMX tricks, is fast emerging as a creative force to be reckoned with through his ever popular video series which have accompanied his last few releases and seen his creative vision compared to the likes of Mr Scruff and Lemon Jelly.
Binary Band
Binary Band is formed of the sparring vocal harmonies, dobro (slide guitar) and harmonium (missionary organ) of Ali Thoburn and Billy Tudor, and complimented by the occasional electric piano and pieces of catgut, dusty wood and rusty metal. The resulting sound is an earthy, wide-screen brew of American roots, English psychedelia, film soundtracks, North African blues and Far Eastern influences that brings to mind Neil Young, The Low Anthem, Peter Gabriel, The Band, Tinariwen and Traffic.
