Junior Victor
Let me tell you a little about Junior Victor…
"Imagine Gary Wilmot wrestling a bear on the top
of a Lidl for a rare Faberge Egg that looks strikingly like Jagger"
– This is how the band like to describe their music.
Although a more accurate description would be an
IndiePunkRockRollPowerPop extravaganza.
The band consists of four members,
a Guitarist and singer {Paul Orwell}, a Lead Guitarist/Keys {John Baker},
a Bassist {Joe Lattimer}.
Maeve MacKinnon
Maeve Mackinnon is tipped as one of Scotland's leading young folk singers. An Honours graduate of the RSAMD's Scottish Music degree, her singing really started to come into its own prior to finalising for the BBC Radio Scotland "Young Traditional Musician 2005" award. Born into a political family, Maeve spent most of her infancy learning to walk and talk on peace marches in the 1980s, and remembers Dick Gaughan as being the first live singer she ever heard, and a major musical influence.
Gretchen Peters
In a brief essay on her website, Gretchen Peters says, “I think great songs are born. They are born with all the urgency of childbirth, born out of pain, anger, joy, wit, and delivered by instinct, skill and love.” It is this passion for the song that fuels all facets of a career that has brought her to the Grammys twice as a songwriter, won her a CMA Song Of The Year award for the groundbreaking Independence Day, taken her on repeated sold-out tours across the UK and Ireland, and seen the release of seven critically acclaimed albums.
