Fanfarlo

Fanfarlo were conceived by Simon (vocals, guitar, keys, mandolin, sax, glock) while he was taking shelter in a forest from a particularly heavy snowstorm in Sweden. Inspired to move to London to form the band, he quickly found allies in Justin (bass) and Leon (trumpet/keyboards) when playing small gigs around the city. Mark (electric guitar, keys, vocals, accordian, fanfarlophone) then joined, and Fanfarlo's electronic backing track was ceremoniously destroyed when Amos (drums & percussion, vocals) was enlisted to complete the rhythm section.

Fairport Convention

Fairport Convention is often credited with being the first English folk-rock band. Fairport, formed in 1967, rapidly developed from playing cover versions of American 'west coast' music to an individual style which melded rock music with traditional English tunes and songs. Like their peers The Byrds , Buffalo Springfield and Jefferson Airplane, they were blessed with several considerable individual talents, and produced music that, at least initially was eclectic, as well as exploratory. This side of the band may best be heard on Heyday, a collection of tracks broadcast by the BBC.

Nick Nicely

Nick Nicely - real name Nick Laurien - is a studio-based musician from London, UK (though born in Greenland), mainly active during the early 80s. Although often described as psychedelic, his music is not retro and has little in common with paisley revivalist bands. Nick's first single in 1980 was the classic D.C.T. Dreams - a trippy but catchy electro-pop single which received a lot of airplay, but did not chart in the UK although it reached number 32 in Holland. A follow-up - the more overtly psychedelic Hilly Fields (1892)- came out in January 1982, but was less successful.

Bitches Sin

After several changes, the definitive line-up of Ian Toomey, Pete Toomey, Frank Quegan, Billy Knowles and Mike Frazer, came together and produced some of the most influential heavy metal music of the 80's. This culminated in the cult classic, 'Invaders' album, released in 1986, which received rave reviews from Aardshock's Readers Poll, amongst many others. Invaders was essential listening for skate boarders across the USA. Often quoted 'skate or die'.
