Richard Rijnvos

According to many, Richard Rijnvos is one of the leading composers in the Netherlands of the "post-Andriessen" generation. Born in 1964, he studied composition with Jan van Vlijmen and Brian Ferneyhough at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and followed a postgraduate at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg (Germany). In the period 1986-92 he came in touch with the American composers Morton Feldman and John Cage, who caused crucial changes in his development.

The Scene

The Scene is the name of at least four bands; one Dutch, one Canadian, one British and one German, but only the Dutch band ever reached wider fame. 1) A Dutch rock band from Amsterdam called The Scene, formed around singer Thé Lau. The band was formed in 1979 and had its glory days in the Nineties. The band had a great variety of members throughout the years, but the sound remained basically the same. Thé Lau's characteristic raw and hoarse voice and his hypnotising compositions are the focal point of the band.

Fling

A 'Fling' in Irish musical vernacular is a traditional dance type found in various part of the country especially Kerry, Mayo and Donegal. Often related to a Highland fling, the tune itself has a wild, rugged and restless sound to it denoting an intimate yet rural atmosphere. Fling is also the name of a four-piece band.
A group of articulate, accomplished musicians their interpretations of Irish traditional music and song is ensconced in their love and respect of Irish culture.

Waylon

Waylon is an alum of the television show "Holland's Got Talent". In an interview he said he specifically chose this talent-show, because you immediately have a response from the audience, unlike Idols or X-Factor. "You can't fool the audience" He is the first Dutch artist to be signed to Motown Records. His debut single Wicked Way has been picked up by MTV and was the Radio 538 'Alarmschijf'. His debut album titled "Wicked Ways" was released on August 28.

Lefties Soul Connection

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear the Lefties Soul Connection sound is the word ‘RAW’. Sound and music wise the band is influenced by funk acts like the Meters and the JB's, but also by hip-hop acts like for example Jurassic 5, the Roots and Beastie Boys. In general they have their backbone in the raw (obscure) funk & soul from the 60s till early 70s but a lot of tracks are based on hip-hop feel/sound/structure (open drum breaks, ready to sample riffs).

Number 9

Stefan Bruinsma (17-08-1982), a.k.a. Number 9, was born and raised in the north of the Netherlands in a city called Groningen. At the age of 9 he discovered music was his passion, and he took his first piano lessons shortly followed by his first guitar lessons. After developing as a musician he encountered people that shared his vision on making music and performing on stage. At the age of 18 he chose the Rockacademy in Tilburg to develop as an artist and entrepreneur in the music industry. Up till now his life resulted in the following music projects:

Destine

Tilburg, The Netherlands
2006 - present Destine is Holland’s response to punkpop bands such as Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan and Paramore. With its distinctive American sound and appearance, it seems like only a matter of time before Destine becomes an established name in Europe. The five youngsters joined forces in 2006 and released the A Dozen Dreams EP. After this, a time of intensive touring followed: in the first year 70 shows were played in the Netherlands, England, Wales, Germany, France and Belgium.
