COCOON

There are at least four bands called Cocoon: 1. Cocoon is a two-piece French band formed in 2006 by Mark Daumail (born 1984, composition, lead vocals, acoustic guitar, ukelele, banjo, beatbox, etc.) and Morgane Imbeaud (born 1987, vocal harmonies, keyboards, arrangements). "I wanted it to be a male-female duet. A duo like the White Stripes are in rock — we wanted to be the equivalent in folk music," Daumail says. Their songs are entirely sung in English. "French artists singing in English isn't something new. It goes back to groups like Les Thugs and Syd Matters," he remarks.

Twilight Hotel

Twilight Hotel is the musical partnership of Brandy Zdan & Dave Quanbury. Together they possess an elusive chemistry and musical style that is dark, moody and rooted in some kind of nostalgic passion for scratchy records and vintage guitar tones. They combine a rock n roll sensibility, compelling songwriting, and haunting arrangements while standing comfortably outside your predictable genre box.

Kacey Johansing

Kacey Johansing's debut album, Many Seasons, plays like a travelogue. Sweeping the listener along from her roots in small town Colorado to Boston to a San Francisco, where Johansing is at something of an epicenter for a rapidly evolving songwriting scene, the album crystallizes a rich Bay Area indie-folk sound bursting at the seams with creativity. Although Many Seasons is a solo album, the guitarist and singer's penchant for collaboration shines through. A member of the bands Honey.Moon.Tree and Honeycomb, Johansing also counts Matt Adams' band The Blank Tapes as frequent collaborators.

Get Well Soon

In the white noise of a time where pop music is endlessly booming out of millions of speakers Rest Now, Weary Head! is the first album of the band of Konstantin Gropper. Here, he invites us to lean back for a while and close our eyes. Wounds are being bandaged, scars counted. - Breathe - Meanwhile, his music is wandering. Timelessly it roams about in genres: folk and electro are walking hand in hand, classical music is sketching the distant horizon - a faint memory of long gone eras - hook lines of pop music are lying at the wayside, waiting to be touched with the slightest irony.
