Asthmatic Astronaut

Asthmatic Astronaut has been released by Tru Thoughts, Wah Wah 45s and has appeared on both volumes of the Stac remixes
alongside luminaries such as Bonobo, Blue Daisy and Kid Kanevil. Originally discovered by Japanese label
De:jine Records, he went on to tour with the consciously positive live-rap extravaganza Underling, playing
with everyone from El-P, Roots Manuva, Mike Ladd and Aesop Rock to DJ Vadim.

Natural Self

Natural Self is a Brighton based producer who makes excellent, funky music. He also goes by the name of keno-1 depending on type of sounds he's making. He is related to tru thoughts. Natural Self is the ongoing project of Nathaniel Pearn, aka producer Keno-1. Pearn was originally inspired by the rhythmic force of The Bomb Squad's productions for Public Enemy, and hip hop was the primary influence on his first forays into music. His hometown of Oxford was just near enough to London to pick up Tim Westwood's then seminal Capital Rap Show floating across the airwaves.

See also: Rob Luis Rob Luis is a Brighton based DJ, producer and label owner. In 1999 he set up the independent UK Label Tru Thoughts and to date he is still head of the label and its A & R man. He has produced music under the names Me&You (alongside TM Juke), Humble Munk, Nirobi and Deeds Plus Thoughts. He is an acclaimed DJ known for eclectic, upbeat sets. He also presents a weekly radio show "Unfold Radio" on Sunday nights from 10pm to 12pm on Brighton's Juice 107.2FM.

Nostalgia 77 Octet

Performing the music of Nostalgia 77, lost jazz masterpieces, new group composition and improvisation Nostalgia 77 Octet are hotly tipped as the new british jazz explosion.
Largely formed from graduates of the Royal Academys jazz programme and Alumni of the NYJO the band boast members from Mathew Herbert Big Band and Mathew Bourns Electric Dr M group.
Playing a majority of the composers original compositions the group also pay homage to their influences which range from vintage british jazz compoitions by Graham Collier to the searching Afro-American sound of Sun Ra.

Lizzy Parks

Lizzy Parks is a singer/songwriter. Her debut album ‘Watching Space’ infuses the soaring jazz melodies of Ella Fitzgerald with the cutting edge sensibility of Bjork. With vocal comparisons to Erykah Badu and the songwriting skills of Carole King, Lizzy combines the musical freedom of jazz with a cool modern edge. Lizzy Parks caught the attention of TruThoughts recordings via her involvement with the Nostalgia 77 and Nostalgia 77 Octet (TruThoughts featured artists) projects.

Kylie Auldist

Kylie Auldist has been singing for as long as she can remember and possesses an undeniable natural vocal talent. She is half-Samoan but born and bred in the outback of Australia. From the age of fifteen she could be found singing country and western songs in pubs - which, for the only non-white in town, was a gutsy move (in her words it was “a bit like the reverse of Steve Martin in ‘The Jerk’”).

The Bamboos

There are two Australian bands with this name. The first is Australia’s premier Deep Funk outfit. Masters of super-heavy, raw and upfront drum-break driven grooves. Led by Guitarist Lance Ferguson (Equatorial Records/Lanu/No Comply), other members include Ben Grayson (Hammond Organ), Danny Farrugia (Drums), Yuri Pavlinov (Bass), Anton Delecca (Sax/Flute) and Ross Irwin (Trumpet). The Bamboos formed in 2001 and released the 7” single ‘Eel Oil/Blackfoot’, earning them international acclaim from the likes of Snowboy, Mr Scruff, Jazzanova, Patrick Forge and Russ Dewbury.
