Luc Ferrari

Luc Ferrari (February 5, 1929 – August 22, 2005) was a French composer, particularly noted for his tape music. Ferrari was born in Paris and studied the piano under Alfred Cortot, musical analysis under Olivier Messiaen and composition under Arthur Honegger. His first works were freely atonal. In 1954, Ferrari went to the United States to meet Edgard Varèse, whose Déserts he had heard on the radio, and had impressed him. This seems to have had a great effect on him, with the tape part in Déserts serving as inspiration for Ferrari to use magnetic tape in his own music.

"It was not punk. Punk had already happened. We were a year or two younger than the punk bands. And I'd always loved black music. I'd always gone to funk clubs… so I wanted to play funk.

o.blaat

about o.blaat was named after 'oblaat' - flavourless, melting, semi-transparant thin edible paper, exists only to melt and disappear. In Japan, it was used to wrap bitter medicine (esp. for children easy to swallow it), and candies (not to stick together in hot climate.) o.blaat creates environment and situations where sounds being heard, sounds for circumstances, sounds for bones and spines. o.blaat is curious to experiment one's relationship with sounds. o.blaat is personal, and love to create massive mess to disappear into.
