Today I picked up the Let’s Go Safari EP ‘I Eat Awesome For Breakfast’ and stuck it in my iTunes. Now I’m addicted. It’s beauty to my ears. The EP features five of their magnificent electro-pop tunes including ‘I Bet You Think You’re Captain Scarlet (Truth Is You’re Nothing But A Mysteron)’ and my personal favourite ‘Let’s Go Safari, Yeah?’.

The EP doesn’t however include ’Fraidey Cat’, ‘Toy Date’ or ‘Satellites Have No Conscience’ and if you haven’t heard these then you are severely missing out. I was lucky enough to see LGS support EAR PWR last week and they truly are entertaining. The guys have definite stage presence, throw in their catchy lyrics and electric melody and there you have it – Let’s Go Safari are rocking the joint!

I know they’re admitting to breakfast, but I think LGS eat awesome for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Being home and back in Manchester I decided it was a good chance to check out some unsigned acts and a few bands I haven't been able to check out due to spending months at a time down in Bournemouth. I saw that The Lottery Winners were headlining a set in H&H along with Fuschi 3 and Snow White and the Poison Apples. This seemed like a good place to start.

I remember The lottery Winners first forming, they were alright but now they're mind blowing! They took to the stage and automatically turned on the humorous charm that kept the audience entertained from start to finish. The quartet consists of two girls, Kaite on the bass and Alex on drums and two guys Tom lead vocals and guitar and Rob on the guitar. The indie, pop-rock surf band played their set including their first two singles 'Paper Plate Faces' and 'Lovers Lane' from their newly released album 'The Art of Communication'. It was a decent set oozing charisma, charm and their stage presence really got the crowd going. I could certainly see how they'd managed to bag themselves as the winner of the national competion, Live and Unsigned and beat 15,000 other entrants to be crowned victorious.

When the set was finished, they left the crowd chanting for more. 'We don't do encores I'm affraid' they said and left the stage to get themselves a pint. A few minutes later they returned to the stage along with Fuschi 3 and Snow White and The Poison Apples, each grabbed an instrument or mic and began to jam. WOW. It should have been total choas, and technically speaking it was, one song flowed into another. 'Fresh Prince of Bel Air' flowed into Dizzee Rascal's 'Bonkers' and then into 'Hey Jude'. I have absolutely no idea how they did that, or even why they would do that but they did and it worked all too well. The crowd was going wild. The dozen members on stage swapped and changed their instruments amongst themselves and took turns with lead/backing vocals. There was no other words to describe it other than absolutely mind blowing. You could see that each and every band member from these three completely different genres of bands were loving the non-linear musical collaboration that they were inventing.

All round it was a more than enjoyable night for all and I would deffinately reccomend that if you have the chance to check out The Lottery Winners, you do so.
